24th November 2010 marked the first time the APAC market has had the opportunity to participate in the iStrategy Conferences and the consensus is positive. By 11.30am the conference had secured first place as Australia's top twitter topic.
Held in Sydney, Australia at the Sheraton on the Park Hotel the iStrategy Conference 2010 began with a sterling keynote discussion from Haresh Khoobchandani - Chief Marketing Officer for Microsoft, APAC, and what a way to begin. Haresh focused on several key areas for the 300 strong audience of top APAC marketers about how to listen to your consumers, to engage with them and most importantly how consumers are now adapting and changing much faster than advertisers are. It was inspirational for our senior level marketers to hear that they have an opportunity to redefine themselves as marketers in one of the best professions to thrive within. Now that is a keynote.
A delegation of 300 senior marketers from a variety of different verticals are bound to be vocal in their social commentary and today proved no different. When Joe Millward - Innovations Manager - Social Media for Gloria Jeans Coffees wins an iStrategy social media contest of a Starbucks coffee voucher, the tweets kicked off with fervor.
Standout speakers were all involved, just look at the twitter feed. From the buzz happening in the Buzz Numbers interactive workshop to the dynamic performance from Adrian Kinderis -CEO of Ausregistry discussing the future for domain names as "purchasing your own piece of Internet real estate" and topped off by Clifford Rosenberg - Managing Director of Linkedin ANZ whom I think everyone wanted to have a personal conversation with, the day was full in a social sense and a mental sense of content, comment, and marketing inspiration. All facets of a person's ability to listen, raise a question, take notes, tweet, network, discuss and mind share were all covered in Day One, and now we face Day Two.
Day Two gets underway in a few hours with Mark Wynne - President South East Asia for Kimberly Clark. Feel free to follow us on Twitter for more marketing insights and social engagement #istrategy2010 #sydneyistrategy
